What happened to the copper golem?
Along with Glare and Allay, the Copper Golem was the third mob in the Minecon Live 2021 Mob Voting. All three of these mobs are friendly mobs with special characteristics. Millions of Minecraft fans were able to vote and choose their favorite mob.
Glare got fewer votes than the other two in the first round. So he’s eliminated in the first round. In the final round between Allay and the Copper Golem, Allay won the vote of the crowd and was released in Minecraft Update 1.19, also known as the Wild Update.
What is the Copper Golem?
The Copper Golem is a cute little robot who loves to walk around and push buttons. No, seriously, these guys like to press Copper Buttons if they see them. You can leave a Copper Golem in the house, and if you have something powered by Copper Buttons and Redstone, you may see your base flickering erratically!
Unlike the other two potential mobs, the Copper Golem is not a naturally spawning mob, as it must be created by hand. First you put down a copper block, then you put a lightning rod on top of it. Now, your little copper minion needs a jolt of Redstone energy, so he places a copper button on the block and presses it – voilĂ , you’ve got a copper golem!
Which mob you should vote for
The first mob that was revealed is the Glare. The Glare is a cute green creature that floats. Like many humans, the Glare is not a big fan of the dark. However, you can turn it into something quite useful for you. If you have the glow by your side, it will let you know when you are approaching areas dark enough for monsters to spawn. Some hostile mobs, such as zombies, only spawn when light levels are low enough. So, having a companion that senses darkness can be of great help.
When the Glow starts to get grumpy and throw tantrums, you know you’re approaching dangerous levels of darkness. If you’d rather avoid being attacked by hostile mobs, perhaps the Glare should get your vote.
Pro Tip:
- If you want to protect your copper Golem statue from tarnishing, make sure you build it using waxed copper.
- Alternatively, you can also manually wax them by right clicking on them with honeycombs.
