Why Java 8 is still popular?

Previous reports from the Java community found that developers were still mostly using Java 8 and not adopting newer versions, but according to Snyk’s 2021 JVM Ecosystem Report, that’s starting to change. This year, 61.5% of respondents are using Java 11 somewhere in production and nearly 12% are using the latest version, which was Java 15 during the survey.

“This is huge, because it shows that developers upgrade their Java version beyond Java 8 to some extent. The mantra that most Java developers feel comfortable staying on Java 8 seems to be slowly falling apart,” Snyk said in the report.

Software development is a unique and recent phenomenon in the history of mankind. Unlike others, the entire body of knowledge has yet to be established. That is why learning and acquiring skills in this field is more or less guided by mentoring. We can reading books, but we learn more from our peers, from our fellow developers and by doing things as a team.

That’s why the community plays a vital role in spreading knowledge and helping build the right set of skills. In this regard, the Java community is unique. It is also one of the most comprehensive and welcoming communities: in every large city, you will find a Java user group that helps developers achieve services requested, voluntarily and free of charge.

Java may be a more popular option, but Python is widely used. People outside the development industry have also used Python for various organizational purposes. Similarly, Java is relatively faster, but Python is better for long programs.

In fact Google also uses java heavily. as I see it for a few reasons: many Google developers are familiar with Java technology. Java is very common all over the world and employs excellent Java expert developers.
