When it comes to Minecraft, people tend to ask the same question: “What exactly is Minecraft?” Sometimes they rephrase themselves by saying, “What is Minecraft about?”
The answer remains pretty much the same. Minecraft isn’t really about anything. As a first-person, sandbox-based, open-world game, Minecraft has no particular narrative. Gameplay is, in essence, learning to exploit and use the world around the player, although much of the rest of a particular session in the Minecraft client comes from emergent gameplay on behalf of individual players or groups of players. Players choose roles that relate to the needs and wants they created from the being within the space, ranging from explorer to miner to master architect and beyond.
Survive your first night.
At night, enemy mobs will appear and try to attack you. If you die, you’ll come back to the vicinity, but you have to go back and collect all your stuff. It’s better not to die in Minecraft because you can lose your items or lose your previous location. So to avoid this we need to build a quick shelter for the first night.
To make it as easy as possible, simply equip the shovel by pressing the corresponding hotkey number. For us it was 1. So, look at the ground and hold right click to dig three blocks.
The Minecraft Community
The Minecraft community extends far beyond the in-game game. It’s also a very popular game to watch. So while your child may not play Minecraft, they are likely to watch others play on YouTube or Twitch. They are constantly trying to learn new skills to improve their game when they get back to playing.
Another reason kids can’t stop playing Minecraft is because of their friends or people they’ve met online. Just like in a social situation, they feel pressured by their peers to get online and play games so they don’t miss out. Again, as there is no specific round or level they have to pass at a specific time, the lack of limits is a challenge for kids to know when to stop or they feel envious of their friends who can continue playing when they need to stop. Peer pressure can play a big part in why you might wonder if your child is addicted to Minecraft.
Requirements
Before starting, you will need to activate the cheats in your world. Otherwise, you won’t be able to run Minecraft game commands.
First, you need to open the chat window. This is probably the easiest way to enter commands in Minecraft. However, different versions have different ways of accessing said window. Here is an updated list for all platforms.
