While troubleshooting ConfigMgr 2012 R2 client install failure on a generic installation of Windows 7 x64 on a computer, we spent numerous hours digesting the following error code that refused to complete the install in the CCMSETUP.log file
Finally it seemed that the hint that ccmsetup.cab was corrupted was false (surprise!), however the client had trouble extracting the manifest from it and so the install stopped interrupted.

Steps to fix error number 0x80072ee2
Step 1: Wait about 30 minutes and try running Windows Live Update again. This will fix the error in most cases caused by problems on the Microsoft server due to high internet traffic or other server side issues.
Step 2: Disable any third-party firewall programs installed and running on your computer. Most third-party firewall programs will allow you to do this by opening the respective control or configuration panel for the application and selecting the appropriate “disable” menu option. We recommend turning on the Windows Firewall (if it’s not already running) to make sure your computer has some level of protection while the normal firewall is disabled. To activate the Windows Firewall: select the “Start” and “Control Panel” menu options. Next, choose the “System and Security” menu option followed by clicking on the “Windows Firewall” menu option. Move the “On/Off” menu switch to the “On” position and enter the administrator password for the computer (if required).
Clear cache files
Click here to start your computer. Go to the Start Menu button and click on it to open it. In the Start Search box, type Cache and press Enter, then open a .cache file program, click to open all these files. After all data has been opened. Press Control + A to select all data and press the Delete key. Successfully delete all data from the cache. After this process, close all tabs. Restart your computer.

Third Party Tools (Internet Security Suites)
I also suggested that third party tools like Internet Security Suites are causing an insufficient free space error. This is confirmed in this post from Microsoft:
Close all programs, including those running in the background, such as firewalls, anti-spyware software, web accelerators, Internet security, or antivirus programs or proxy servers, then run Windows Update again .
