The Axolotl is the newest and cutest underwater creature in Minecraft added to the game in the first update of Caves and Cliffs. We have covered various aspects of the multicolored amphibian and how they react to the world around them. For a detailed look at how you can use them to your advantage, check out our What do Axolotls do in Minecraft guide.
While the Axolotl is useful in life, some creatures in the game have additional benefits for you even after death. Cows, for example, will give you milk while you’re alive, but you kill them for meat and leather. So does the axolotl drop anything upon death?

Reasons why axolotls die
In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the most common reasons why axolotls die. We will also talk about how to prevent them from happening in the future.
Poor water quality is one of the most common reasons for axolotl death and can happen without the owner knowing. It happens by inattention. A filter is a must, but some owners still choose to have an axolotl tank without one. It’s not a good idea. Poor water quality can cause a lot of stress and in turn disease that can cause death.
Where and what are Minecraft Axolotls
Until Minecraft update 1.17 is released, players will not be able to find Axolotls in the wild . However, they can be spawned in creative mode using spawn eggs. When 1.17 releases, players will be able to find Axolotls in river biomes and the all-new Lush Caves. This is one of the new cave formations that will be introduced with the update. As amphibians, players will only be able to find them in bodies of water. To tame these Axolotls, players will need to catch them in buckets as they do different types of fish. These Axolotls are then tamed such as when players feed wolf bones or stray fish.
