Patrick pours his resin in layers to avoid bubbles, alternating between translucent and opaque mixes as he works from the bottom of the container to the top. As he adds the layers of resin, he makes sure to mix many chunks of obsidian to bring out the obsidian and resin to fill the space between the rock.
Patrick puts a final layer of translucent resin on top of the cube container before using a blowtorch to heat up any bubbles that rise to the surface.

How hard is obsidian in real life?
Unlike real-life Minecraft, obsidian is only slightly hard (pickaxe) (five on the Mohs scale) and very brittle (tnt).
