How to play Minecraft Bedrock on a PC
Minecraft comes in two flavors, the Java Edition and the Bedrock Edition. The former is the original edition, still in use, while the latter is a more recent version.
Minecraft Bedrock Edition is a version of Minecraft made by Xbox Game Studios, Mojang Studios and SkyBox Labs. What makes this edition different from the Java edition is that it was based on the Bedrock code. It is developed for platforms and devices that don’t support Java.
Which version of Minecraft is better?
In reality, there is no definitive version of Minecraft. If you’re looking to jump right into the game, you’ll be comfortable on both versions of the game. It really depends on what features you’re looking for, as they can help nudge you in the right direction. If you are looking to play with friends and don’t mind limited modding tools, Bedrock will be the best version. If you’re looking to get into the game and play with all possible settings, or want to challenge yourself with the Hardcore mode, then you will want to play with the Java Edition.
Whichever version you choose, be sure to check out our Minecraft help section, where we cover many different topics that will help you love the game more than ever. Advantages and Disadvantages
The Bedrock Edition supports crossplay between different platforms while the Java Edition does not. In fact, PC gamers can’t even play each other through the Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. This is because they use different servers.
This does not mean that the Java Edition is obsolete. It has some features that the Bedrock Edition lacks. The Java Edition is particularly popular with modders as it is highly customizable. The Bedrock Edition is based on Minecraft’s centralized and moderated marketplace.
Bedrock Edition
Minecraft Bedrock Edition was initially created as Minecraft Pocket Edition and was a mobile version of the main Minecraft game. It was created after the traction that Java Edition was getting. Later, it was bought by Microsoft and accelerated to the point where it is in power with Java Edition. Bedrock Edition of Minecraft is the best edition if you want to get more social experience as it is available on all platforms. If you have Minecraft that isn’t Java Edition or on PC, then it’s Bedrock Edition or a variant thereof. While it looks identical to Java Edition, there are many substantial differences in gameplay and support since Microsoft owns it. It’s very easy to pick it up and play with friends and family. You can also play with people from different platforms as it has crossplay and cross-platform support.
