Minecraft ($6.99) on iOS and Android (along with Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Windows 10) has been constantly updated with new features and content since the release of the big update that brought all those platforms together. Cross play and progression is something I hope many more cross platform games move forward. Today, Mojang detailed Realms Plus for Minecraft which will replace the current Realms subscription. We’ve been writing about Realms for a while. Check out the trailer for the new Realms Plus subscription below:

Is a Minecraft kingdom worth it?
Minecraft realms are a great way to get a simple, no-nonsense Minecraft server. The realms are maintained by Mojang, the developers of Minecraft, so you can rest assured that they will be maintained and updated. They’re also very affordable, with prices starting at $7.99 per month.
Realms are perfect for small groups of friends who want to play together. They offer a wide variety of settings that you can tweak to your liking, as well as a convenient web interface that lets you manage your server from anywhere.
Minecraft Realms on Bedrock vs Java
Before I get into it, I want to acknowledge an important caveat to this article. I’m only speaking from the point of view of a Bedrock Edition user. I know Java is very popular and it’s the version I grew up with. However, for small multiplayer games (Image via XL Gaming on YouTube
In modern versions of Java servers, such as Paper, many resources are tied to RAM availability. Processing power is no doubt important, but most hosts will generally focus on RAM allocation in marketing since that’s what people are looking for. Bedrock Edition, on the other hand, is very CPU bound. This means that hosting is almost always more expensive than a similarly sized Java server, or even worse, very poorly optimized by the host who is used to specifying their own VMs for Java servers.
Why use Realms on servers in Minecraft?

The most significant difference between the two is that Realms are private and can only be accessed by people with invitations from the owner. On the other hand, servers are more difficult to manage and go offline if the creator of the server shuts down their PC.
How to create a kingdom in Bedrock
You can create a kingdom directly from the game in Bedrock, without the need to go to a separate website. The price is $7.99 per month, just like in the Java edition.
