Unfortunately, Minecraft Bedrock doesn’t have the same customization and modding options prevalent in the Java Edition. Sadly, the only reliable way to change your character’s appearance in the Bedrock Edition is to pay for it. The same principle applies to capes.

How to change skins in Minecraft

Add some flavor to your world with cosmetics. Minecraft skins offer many options for dressing up and impressing your character. Here’s what to do:

• Open the Minecraft launcher and make sure you have the Java edition selected.
• Click on the “Skins” tab at the top of the middle section.
• Now choose a skin that you already have in your library or click on the “add skin” option.
• When adding new skins, you can create them yourself via websites like Skindex or edit an existing template and edit it via the Minecraft Skin Editor. Just be sure to save files with the PNG extension.

Unable to load skins in Minecraft

Minecraft players using Windows 10, i.e. the Bedrock version, have complained that skins are not loading in the customization drawer. Some players who own the Java Edition have had similar issues, but this seems to be a Bedrock issue for the most part. The skins are still in their respective location/drawer but are not loaded or displayed in the personalization drawer. Here’s how you can fix it.

Using your Minecraft account on Mac

Alternatively, if you don’t want to start Minecraft: Java Edition, you can also change skins via your profile. Here’s how you’ll do it:

1. Log in to your minecraft.net account.
2. Select the menu in the upper right corner.
3. From the dropdown list, choose Profile.
4. Under Skins, select the Browse button.
5. Click Select a file.
6. Go to the folder where your skins are.
7. Choose the skin you want to choose.
8. Select Open.
9. Click save to change skin.
10. Next time you play, your skin will switch to the new one.
