How do I fix a corrupted game?

Sometimes it can be more obvious that you have corrupted data on your PS4, but the symptoms can appear in other forms as well. But there are times when you have a problem and you don’t have an error code letting you know that this is the problem.

Fix 2: Rebuild your system’s database

If this doesn’t fix things, your PS4’s database needs to be rebuilt. Here’s how you can do it!

  1. Turn off the console completely, then unplug the power cord.
  2. Reseat the power cable, close the circuit, then press and hold the power button on your console. After you do this, your console will beep twice within 8 seconds.
  3. Your console will now boot into safe mode. Plug the Dual Shock controller into one of the console’s USB ports.
  4. Highlight the option that says “Rebuild Database” then tap the “X” button on your controller.
  5. Go to the kitchen, make a bowl of Cheerios, then continue watching Breaking Bad on your phone.
  6. After finishing an episode or two, return to your console and the database rebuilding process will be completed.

If Steam managed to download the latest game update files but failed to install them due to the error related to corrupted content files, there is another way to force the system to receive game updates.

  3. Take it and use it to replace the folder in the game directory
